Next few trips

Just a short one on what im upto the next few months ..

This november i venture to the coast in search of the seal pupping season and to hopefully make some images of the pups whilst on shore and to film some of the antics that go on.

Its been something on my list for a while now but the oppotunity just hasnt quiet fallen during the right months to go and having photographed seals in the summer im really excited to be going !!

There’s something captivating about the sight of a grey seal stretched out on the sand, whiskers twitching in the sea breeze, eyes closed in complete contentment. These marine mammals are often thought of as playful and energetic, but moments like this reveal their gentler, more peaceful side.

Wildlife Facts

• Grey seals (Halichoerus grypus) are one of Britain’s largest land-breeding mammals.

• The UK is home to about 40% of the world’s population, making our coastlines globally important for their survival.

• They can dive as deep as 100 metres and stay underwater for up to 15 minutes.

• Their whiskers (vibrissae) are incredibly sensitive, helping them detect fish in murky waters.

This image reflects more than just a seal at rest—it’s about the importance of slowing down, finding calm, and appreciating the natural world. Seals spend much of their lives at sea, but when they haul out on beaches, they bring a sense of wildness and serenity to our shores.

From there i head back to the highlands of Scotland for its winter bounty of Crested tits, Snow buntings, Red deer, Red squirell, Mountain hares and hopefully this year the Ptarmingan !

and i might have time to squeeze in finding some dippers too !

I will be uploading a blog about this and what prep goes into these kind of trips, a little guide as such with some helpful tips thrown in so be sure to check that out when it comes out later this month and also i will be doing a post seal trip report aswell.

Also is hopefully in between this is capturing some of the winter migrants to our shores such as red wings, thrushes, i do have a mini project on the go at the momnet for tree creepers and goldcrests in my private permision so hopefully will report back with some good things soon !

Finally the badgers !!

Again they have been busy with excuvations of new sett entrances and some recent footage show one large male dragging in dry leaves for bedding which will go up on my instagram probably sometime in next two weeks so do go check that out via the instgram link on my home page !
